Hands-on Pichia course – full program

Course Description

In laboratory sessions and small group workshops, participants will discuss suitable solutions for proposed case studies. Participants will be provided with supporting presentations to help guide them through the course.

Sunday, February 26, from 1 pm
Expression Strategies: Starting the Right Way
Participants will learn the skills necessary to decide between different available host strains, vectors and other elements of available Pichia expression systems, and to understand their influences at the various stages from strain construction to cultivation process.

Monday, February 27
Physiology and Screening of Production Strains
Participants will learn to understand the importance of screening in the development of high-level Pichia production strains and to recognize the screening setups that are most suited to the different phenotypes and promoters used.

Tuesday, February 28
Making Use of the Full Potential of Molecular Biology
Participants will learn how to design a suitable process strategy for the combination of the desired target product and the chosen molecular design.

Wednesday, February 29, until 10 am
Summary, Conclusions and Farewell

A bus transfer to Alpbach will be organized for participants attending the Pichia 2012 conference.
